Let’s Pray! – We will pray as a church for these three things each day this upcoming week.
Pray for grade school students as they will be out of school in a month.
Pray that people in this nation would be united in the right things that relate to the well-being of others.
Give thanks to God for women who are making a positive impact in our lives.
NZBC’s Women’s Ministry invites all women to a Women’s Day Weekend of Fellowship and Worship. This year’s theme is “The Woman God Sees.” Join them on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11:30 AM in the J. H. Moody Fellowship Hall for a Women’s Symposium: “Our Bodies, His Temple – God’s Vision.” The presenter will be Sis. Barbara Jackson-Ingram, Administrator of Health Services, Chesapeake Retirement Community. We will continue to celebrate Women’s Day on Sunday, May 19, 2024, during the 11:30 AM worship service. The guest speaker on Sunday will be Dr. Valerie Carter-Smith, Executive Director/Treasurer, Woman’s Missions Missionary Union of Virginia (WMUV). Women are asked to make a special Women’s Day donation of $50. For more information, please contact Rev. Shirley Smith. The color for the day is orange.
Bible/Book Study with the book, Kingdom Disciples, by Dr. Tony Evans, will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 7:30 PM. We will continue with Chapter 11.
Our next Faith & Fitness session will be held in the J. H. Moody Fellowship Hall, Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 6:30-7:30 PM. Join us for a thorough health and wellness discussion and fitness activities.
The next session for Daytime Adult Bible Study, a basic Bible Study for laypeople, will be Wednesday, June 5th at 11:00 AM. The session will be onsite only in the fellowship hall. Rev. Shirley Smith is the contact.
If you will GRADUATE from high school, college, or a professional/certificate program, RETIRED, or will RETIRE or have graduated or retired from September 2023- August 2024, please submit your name, type of degree, certificate, or diploma and a photo to either Dr. Brenda Christian newephiphany56@outlook.com or Church Administrator Jovan Frazier nzbcwmbgva@aol.com for recognition in the June 2024 church bulletin.
May is May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Research has shown that gratitude improves your overall mental health by improving your mood. As you practice gratitude, you may notice a decrease in symptoms of depression and anxiety. While gratitude alone may not be a magic bullet to mental health issues, it can be one part of a broader treatment plan. 1st Thessalonians 5:18 states, "give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." "Praying with gratitude allows us to shift our focus from the problems and challenges we face to the blessings and goodness of God. New Zion Baptist Church Summer Camp for youth ages 8-12 will begin June 17th and end July 26th. If you're interested in serving as a volunteer for Summer Camp 2024, please sign up on the bulletin board outside Pastor Whitehead's office. Thanks for your willingness to serve. Sentara Healthcare and New Zion Baptist Church are collaborating to provide health screenings and education to the church and the community. The third event will revolve around Prostate Cancer. The event will be held at New Zion Baptist Church on Saturday, June 22, at 11:00 AM. To schedule, please call 757.785.4138. For more information, please see the attached flyer. Youth Church Needs You! If you are passionate about kids and God’s kingdom, please consider volunteering with this ministry! Youth Church is held every 2nd & 4th Sunday of the month. You must be a member of New Zion for at least a year to volunteer with Youth Church. If you are interested, please see the ministry leaders, Sis. Sonya and Rev. Monica, or Trustee Jovan, to complete a background check.
The Nursery Ministry needs volunteers. Please see Trustee Jovan Frazier. You must be a member of New Zion for at least one year to volunteer with the Nursery Ministry, and a background check is required.
